LeapForWord is working towards a delivery model whereby The Effort can reduce its direct intervention by leveraging the infrastructure / manpower already existing in the ecosystem. The Effort envisages a delivery model wherein LeapForWord brings in its expertise in content generation, teacher training and Objective Assessment while the partner organisations bring in their expertise in classroom lesson delivery.

In the Academic Year 2010-11, The Effort is pilot testing this model across all new school project locations. Therefore, The Effort is strongly focusing on capacity building among the teachers of the BMC and Partner Non-Profits organisations.

BMC teacher Training: The Effort is pilot testing this delivery model for 15 batches of Grade IV/V BMC students. In April 2010, LeapForWord concluded training a batch of 15 BMC teachers who will drive the LeapForWord School Project across 6 schools for ~ 480 students. The training was content specific and oriented towards delivering the objective of the identified grade.

Partner Non Profit teacher/volunteer training: The Effort is collaborating with other Non profits organisations (NPO) working in the field of Education to take the School project to their students. Just as in case of BMC teachers, LeapForWord is extending content specific training to the teachers/volunteers of the NPOs to help them execute the school project.

Rural Balwaadi Teacher training: Since year 2009-10, LeapForWord in collaboration with Xaviers' Institute of Management, Mumbai has been conducting 10-12 days residential workshop for rural balwaadi teachers. LeapForWord conducts the English Module for these teachers. They are trained in basics of English. This intervention is geared towards

1) Lifting the English competency  of the balwaadi teachers

2) Identifying among those trained the ones who with further assistance can themselves turn into trainers

This entire process will going forward help onset a virtuous cycle where in local resource trains local teachers with minimal external intervention. In May 2010, the Effort trained 42 such Balwaadi teachers.
