We believe,

Creativity, innovation and structured content are the key to delivering successful results.
Every individual has the capability to contribute to a positive change.

1. Content

Inline with the SSC board curriculum, LeapForWord has designed and developed content in-house for each grade (Std V to Std X)*. Though the content compliments the regular school teaching, it is aimed more towards developing proficiency in spoken English.

There is a defined learning objective which increases in difficulty with every progressing grade. The content design is governed by the following objective map

*Currently content is available for grades V & VI

Unlike the conventional curriculum (text books), our content is more activity oriented thereby encouraging students to think and participate. Additionally, the content is such structured that learnings from previous terms/years are carried forward in future sessions. The content is in a mix of the local language & English and the proportion of the local language reduces with each progressing grade.

LeapForWord publishes the content in the form of books which are distributed free of cost to all our students. Feedback on the content is regularly invited and the inputs are incorporated to further improve its quality.

The soft copies of the books are available in the 'Resource Section'.

2. Teaching

School sessions are conducted by a mix of paid & volunteer teachers.

Salaried teachers undergo formal training sessions before they are assigned to any class while in volunteer based teaching, a new volunteer initially assists the lead volunteer until s/he is confident of independently conducting the class.

Though content and schedule are pre-determined, we believe that effective teaching results from freedom to innovate. All teachers are encouraged to try new methods of teaching if those can yield better results. Any successful teaching method is shared and replicated at other teaching venues.

The classes are conducted on the school premises itself for ~ 3 hours every week.

If you wish to volunteer, please click on the 'Volunteer' tab under 'Support the Effort'.
