There is critical focus on the measurement of value-add to check the effectiveness of the programme.

As per the defined learning objective of a Grade, a comprehensive test known as the MAPPING TEST is designed. All students of each grade take the mapping test of the respective grade at the beginning of the academic year to map their entry level abilities against the final objectives of the grade. This same test is repeated at the end of the academic year to measure the degree of attainment of the learning objective by each student. In addition each class undergoes regular intermediate assessments to monitor the progress on an on-going basis.

The scores of each student are recorded and tracked so as to measure the impact of the project at an individual level. From academic year 2010-11 LeapForWord intends to introduce software based performance tracking mechanism. This performance tracking software is being developed in-house. This software has three essential features

1. The performance of every student on certain pre-defined parameters is recorded by the software for all tests, thereby allowing to maintain the progress report of every student. As the same test gets administered for all students of a particular grade across geographies, the performance can be compared at student, batch and school level.

2. The software also analyses the weakness and strength of each child after every test. Based on the test result, the software identifies the improvement areas and auto generates appropriate practice tests consisting of questions selected from a pool of questions. Therefore, every practice test is customized to the individual needs of the students.

3. The best performing batch/school can be found and the teaching practices from there can be replicated at other locations. The tool also allows to measure the effectiveness of the teacher thereby making them accountable for their performance.
